how long ago it seemed.
smooth and fiddler on the roof introduced me to the whole new world of music.
graduation was of no meaning to us, we were far from it.but we sang it anyway.

sec 2.
-xinfony 4.
i was in the main band now.
i had graduated to wearing the cool black blazer of our band uniform. how proud i was as i walked onto the stage.though i didnt get into SYF, i got my fair share of fun that year. it was then that my love for band began to grow.
tales of the sea and american riversongs still remain my favourite songs today.of course, not to be missed was the graduation song, kiroro, and that year, dian graduated.

sec 3.
- xinfony 5
miss tan left us, and mr tan arrived.
we didnt like him.
he changed everything in our band.
qm, library and everything was in a mess.
we were against him, and felt that he was unreasonable, with unreachable high expectations.we felt he looked down on us, and grew to hate band. thankfully, the band pulled through, and we put up xinfony 5. it wasnt fantastic, but i was good enough for me.we had a conductor now.
somewhere around this time, mr tan ph left.

sec 4
-syf
- xinfony 6
this proved to be one of my most enjoyable years in band. i loved band, and till now, emperata overture and singapore rhapsody still stays etched in my mind.
i will never ever forget the countless practices, auditions, sectionals, self practice. the band woke up late, but nevertheless, we woke up. we practiced, and put in our 100%. everyone was hopeful and was in high spirits. 11 april 2005 is a night i will never forget. it was a monday, and that night, we held a performance in the school parade square, under the stars. it was perfect. we played like we never played before, and everything fell into place. morale was high, and we carried high hopes into SCH, but returned defeated.
everyone had tears in their eyes. not only had we disappointed our teachers, conductors and seniors, we were utterly disappointed in ourselves.
the following morning, we had to play sg rhapsody to the school.
we sounded sad, and even before we started, a third of the band was crying. by the end of the piece, almost the whole band was in tears, and this showed in our music.
due to syf, xinfony 6 was rushed out. it was my turn to walk onto the stage as a graduating member, leaving the band. canon in d. it will forever be my favourite song.

sec5
- kaleidoscope.
xinfony was cancelled, and kaleidoscope took its place. however, xinfony will never be replaced in my heart. no matter how many kaleidoscopes take place, i would always hope for the return of xinfony.our section bonded. EUNICE, STEPHANIE, YANLI, SHANSHAN and ME.our section banner came in first, and it was our proudest moment. we were one united section.finally i belonged somewhere. it was sad that this happened in my last year, but i will always treasure this no matter what.
anywhere you go, wherever you look, the DOUBLEREED section will always remain the best.

though im leaving this year,
i will never forget all the people who made my 5 years in band a colourful and memorable one. i will never forget my beloved section members.
eunice, my mother cow. you are the crappiest, but i don care. this makes our section noisy and happy.
stephanie, my first ever beloved junior. i shared a lot of hard times with her, but we also had our share of happy times. i hope next year after syf, you will come to me crying. crying tears of joy, not like me, tears of sadness and disappointment. remember, you're our scholar! so 10A1s ya!
shanshan and yanli, my lame crappy sec 2 juniors. you two are colourful and talkative, making our section the noisest one. but i don mind. yanli, you got my oboe, and you better take care of it. don put it through extreme temp. changes, and make sure you polish the metal buttons, screws, joints and even the wood. it better shine the next time i return! shanshan, you must teach your junior kays. she always flat de, must teach her the right air speed and correct breathing.both of you must also remember to practice hard okay?

as mr tan said, he has high expectations but he feels that we are able to reach it. practice hard for song of sailor and sea. its a beautiful song, and if you'll can play it for syf and get a gold, it would definitely leave a deep impression on other school bands.
i have faith in you.
