"The Religion of Humanity"

Unlike its forefathers, this religion included neither the consecration of idols, promulgation of commandments nor prayer for divine intervention whatsoever. So what is this "religion of humanity"? Is it the treatment of the fellow man tantamount to a divine being, a celestial blessing? After all, "we are all God's children" (though im not Christian.) That is to say we do not treat "God" with celestial omnipotence; rather "God" is manifest in every fellow Man. In retrospect, this "religion of humanity" is the celebration of the appreciation a Man has for its neighbour.

Nowhere else have i seen a more manifest example of this exactment that in the egalitarianism within the Dapatra village commune. Their celebration of humanity can be overtly recognised by their arid appreciation of each other - unknowingly, they are the advocates of love, the acolytes of this religion, promulgating its treatment of fellow men with sacred creatures to us innocent "urban pumpkins".

As such, the commonly intangible perception of "God" is in fact tangibly manifest in those who espouse this religion. The religion subscribes every good principle of its ancestors, from the 10 commandments to the Buddhist's assertion to espouse tolerance and self-restrain, witholding the temptations of covetous avarive. In the worship of this religion, the only rule is the respect for a fellow being, which is a trait sorely lacking in "advanced" society. Once again, our notion of civilisation requires re-examination, as we reconsider whether we should be coming here to teach them, or coming here for them to teach us !

It is within us "wealthy" people that education, food, hygiene, leisure and shelter is granted without having to be worked for by our own merits. Nowhere else do we see this phenomena take place - not in the animal kingdom, the plant habitat, and certainly not in the village. An animal is not born the right of such services, nor plants in a similar context, neither are these people.

So accustomed are we to "basic needs" like education do we overlook so often the blessing we are granted. Opportunity s not our birthright, but yet we treat it with flagrant profligation while others slog day and night, praying for divine intervention to provide them this chance that we do not cherish.

NEVER have i seen people so excited over a single ball, while we soccer people moan at the prospects of yet another training session. Are we worthy of this opportunity?

Never have i seen children so eager to learn and be responsible for their own education. Yet how many of us, myself included, have spurned the chance and not cherish the fact that we have the opportunity as our birthright, rather than through merit and luck? Are we worthy this opportunity?

It is often said that we do not know what we miss until we lose it, but that would be too late. Must we really lose this opportunity before we learn to treasure it? Many of the children here are as mulnutritioned since conception because of poverty, and as a result, their mental growth suffers adverse ramifications. Our birthright of growth here too is questionable. Why is it that we have the right to grow up healthy? Afterall, our existence would serve only to consume more of the resources that could have otherwise provided sustenance for many under priviledged children elsewhere.

i don't want to be one who consumes resources without any subsequent contributions.

just stop procrastinating !
