GOOGLE + Japan Part 1

i like visiting google. cos its so darn amusing !

the webpage changes if there are any special days. this one, is pac-man's 30th birthday !

its super cute cos its animated, but the sound that accompanies it is so darn annoying :/

okay okay, i should blog about Japan. before i really really forget.

spent the first day in narita - its not exactly in tokyo actually, sad ):

but still, better than nothing. cos we had the evening/night free, went to some nearby shopping centre. the katsudon there is goooooood !

at least, good enough for me.

they gave us this alarm thing after we ordered our food so that we would know when our food was ready for collection. i think not only WE knew our food was ready for collection, i'm sure almost the entire food centre would be notified. that thing rang super duper loud, it was embarassing !

but the food was good, so the embarassing alarm thingy is forgiven (:

domestic flight to hokkaido early the next morning, so we had our breakfast on the bus while it sped towards Haneda Airport.

their breakfast is quite 丰富 leh ! A LOT of sandwiches, which all of them were nice, plus fruits, smoked salmon and all. all packed into a plastic bento box.

passed by Tokyo Disneyland. pass by only, could only see the top of the disney hotel ! ):

and their domestic flights allow you to bring drinks on board, BUT they have to check the liquid substance ! and they have a very cute machine to do so. haha, eye opener.

first day in hokkaido, and if you squint, you can see that its 14.1 degrees.

DON'T BE FOOLED. the wind is evil.

went straight to Porotokotan, an Ainu village with very nice scenery and ancient bear rituals.

very nice, but very cold ! cannot stand still for a moment, because standing still = no movement = very cold !

crab for lunch, and then we went to see the Pacific Ocean !! =D

its Lake Toya, which doesn't freeze even in the dead of winter !
at least thats what i think i heard the guide say. HAHA.

we had a very amusing and cute guide for our trek through the forest on Nakajima. the way he talks is really animated and simple, to the extent that even I can understand him ! amazing right !
and, i already like geog, and his presentation of the forest just makes it even more interesting.
THE POWER OF PASSION (:

they say this couple always frequents this part of Lake Toya. so the ones we saw at the hotel were a different pair..

lunch after that, i think. no wait, we went to visit this bear rearing area or smth, where the bears will stand on their hind legs to catch apples/cookies.

the baby bears are super cute !

ah ! before that !

we went to make ice cream !

our very own ice cream, consisting of fresh milk, cream, sugar, salt, ice cubes and quite a bit of manual labour !!

the wind was being a bitch again, but its nothing that you can't handle.

and then cable car up to Mt. Showa, where the wind was even stronger and fiercer. i swear, this was the only time i was thankful for my weight, because if i were any lighter, the wind could have swept me offfff~ not good, i would not want to fly off a mountain in Japan, tyvm. must go down the way i came up - BY CABLE CAR. heh.

ended up with very numb face and hands, but the 3hr long ride to Noboribetsu warmed me up considerably.

idk the name of the place, but it was some sort of town like ? with lots of ancient Japanese like buildings and structures. very pretty !

visited the 招财猫 temple(center), which ended up with me and becca being the last to enter for the ninja show. oops.

ninja show, followed by a very hilarious and stomach-cramps-due-to-intense-laughter inducing geisha show. by the time we left the place, it was pratically empty and colder than ever.

登別地獄谷

its a sulphur-spewing volcano, which was to be the source of our onsen for the night !

it stinks, really, and i can distinctly remember Aiba in Dの嵐 running excitedly into the thick vapour screaming "POISONOUS GAS, YAAAAAAAY~"

back to the hotel after that, and it started drizzling !

i think this was the day we spotted a row of shops outside the hotel, and so out we ventured, into the light freezing rain !

my conbini receipt was very interesting - to me, at least (:

the room was nice though - traditional Japanese style with tatami mats covering the floor and thick comfy futons. i slept at 3 though. and the rain cooled the room - free aircon (:

am very tired of uploading photos to blogger cos its a hassle, and i'm so bad at it i keep having to reupload. haha, i fail.

such a long post, don't think people would bother to read it either.
